About Department of Prosthetics, Crowns & Bridges

Prosthetic Dentistry is concerned with the replacement of teeth and other structures of the oral cavity. The subject is taught from 1st year B.D.S. till the final year B.D.S. The first two years are pre-clinical years when students are taught on models in our state-of-the-art preclinical laboratory. During this period, the students also get trained in various laboratory procedures.

Dental material is an aligned subject of Prosthetic Dentistry and is taught to get the students acquainted to materials used in dentistry.

Attached to this department is the museum for Dental Materials which aids in the learning process of students.

  1. Removable Partial Dentures: -Temporary and Cast removable partial dentures with/without attachments.
  2. Complete dentures: -Conventional, immediate, tooth/implant supported over dentures.
  3. Fixed Partial Dentures: -Metal and All ceramic crown and bridges.
  4. Oral Implantolgy: -Single tooth to multiple teeth replacement by osseointegrated implants.
  5. Occlusal Rehabilitations: -Full mouth rehabilitations.
  6. Smile Design: -Aesthetic restorations and ceramic veneers.
  7. Maxillo Facial Prosthodontics:-Obturators; orbital, nasal, ocular, ear, finger & lip prosthesis.
  8. Splints: -For Tempero mandibular disorders. Complete denture.

EXTENSIVE ACTIVITIES/WORKSHOPS/CONFERENCES

  • CDE workshop on topic “CROWN AND BRIDGE DENTISTRY” conducted by Karnavati School of Dentistry on 19/02/2022 which was attended by Dr. Kalpesh Vaishnav in Ahmedabad.
  • The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge at Karnavati School of Dentistry celebrated World Prosthodontist Day with great pride and enthusiasm on 22nd January 2022. Students participated with great enthusiasm to create awareness, enhance interest and celebrate the speciality of Prosthodontics. The team sported “Proud to be a Prosthodontist” mouth masks and participated wholeheartedly in the events, with great fervour.
  • Architecture of Crown and Bridge Dentistry was organized by Department of Prosthodontics & Crown and Bridge on 11/02/2022 to 12/02/2022 with guest speaker Dr. Aqeel Reshamwala. A Journey from the Basics of How to Prepare teeth, to which ones to prepare, how to fabricate provisional’s and then how to make an impression to the delivery of the prosthesis was discussed. 
  • The Karnavati School of Dentistry organized an enriching lecture and hands-on session on tabletop restorations on 18th April 2023. Dr. Moez Khakiani renowned expert in the field conducted an insightful lecture, covering the latest advancements in restorative materials, techniques, and treatment planning. They emphasized the importance of achieving functional and aesthetic outcomes while preserving tooth structure. The hands-on session provided a unique opportunity for participants to put their learning into practice.
