NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test): NEET is the most important entrance exam for admission to dental (BDS) and medical (MBBS) courses in India. Previously, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was responsible for conducting the test, but now it is overseen by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
To be eligible for medical courses, candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects in both Class 10th and 12th, and they must have passed these subjects. During the counselling round, candidates are required to present their passing certificates.
AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test): AIPMT was the predecessor to NEET and used to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). However, after the introduction of NEET, AIPMT has been merged with NEET.
State-level Entrance Exams: Various states in India conduct their own entrance exams for admission to dental courses. It evaluates the candidates’ knowledge in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Students who wish to pursue dental courses in Gujarat must appear for the GUJCET and secure a qualifying score to be eligible for admission.
